Tripcart gives you full control over how many travelers can be booked on each tour. By setting minimum (Min Pax) and maximum (Max Pax) traveler limits, you can manage tour capacity efficiently; whether you’re selling a fixed group tour or offering multiple packages under the same tour.
Seat allocation settings help you:
- Prevent overbooking
- Control availability per traveler category (Adult, Child, Infant, etc.)
- Offer different group sizes per package
- Maintain a total seat limit for each departure date
- Ensure booking rules are respected at checkout
Tripcart manages seat allocation from two main areas:
- Price Section
– Controls Min Pax and Max Pax per pricing category
– Or Min/Max Pax inside packages - Date Section
– Controls total seats allowed per tour date (global cap)
Both sections work together to determine how many travelers can book on a specific date.
1. How to Add Min Pax and Max Pax from the Price Section #
You can configure Min Pax and Max Pax in one of two pricing structures:
Option A — Use Single Pricing Categories (No Packages)
Option B — Enable Multiple Packages (Each Package Contains Its Own Categories)
Important: You cannot use both single-category pricing and packages at the same time.
Option A: Single Pricing Categories (No Packages) #
Navigate to: Dashboard → Tours → All Tours → Edit Tour → Price
When Single is selected under Select Package Type, the system shows pricing categories such as:
- Adult
- Child
In each category, you can set:
Min Pax: Minimum number of travelers required in that category for a booking.
Max Pax: Maximum number of travelers allowed in that category for a booking.
Example
#
Adult category values:
- Min Pax = 2
- Max Pax = 5
What happens at checkout?
At checkout, each traveler category starts at 0.
- First click on “+” jumps directly to Min Pax
- Next clicks increase the count one by one until reaching Max Pax
Example:
Adult:
- Min Pax = 2
- Max Pax = 3
Checkout counter behavior:
- Starts at 0
- 1st click → jumps to 2
- 2nd click → becomes 3
- Cannot go higher
This ensures every booking follows the minimum and maximum rules exactly.
Note: These limits apply per booking session.

Option B: Using Multiple Packages (Accelerated & Scale Plans) #
When you enable packages:
- The single pricing category structure disappears.
- You must set Min Pax and Max Pax inside each package for each category.
- Each package controls its own Adult, Child, Infant, Couple, or other pricing categories.
Example: Three Packages #
1. Standard Package #
- Adult Max = 10
- Child Max = 5
2. Premium Package #
- Adult Max = 4
- Child Max = 3
3. Couple Package #
- Adult Max = 5
- Child Max = 3

Note: Travelers can only book according to the limits inside the selected package per booking session.
2. How to Add Max Pax From the Date Section (Global Capacity) #
You can limit the seat capacity for a particular date via Dashboard → Tours → All Tours → Edit Tour → Dates. You can set No. of Pax for each tour date. This is the global capacity for that specific date.
Example #
If a date has the No. of Pax = 8 . Then only 8 total travelers can book that date, regardless of:
- Pricing category limits
- Package limits
- Remaining seats inside individual packages
This prevents overbooking even when multiple categories or packages exist.

3. How Seat Allocation Works Based on Time (Single-Day Tours) #
If your tour has time slots (e.g., Morning, Evening), then the No. of Pax for that date applies to every time slot on that date. The No. of Pax for the date becomes the seat limit for each time slot.
Note: Bookings in one Time slot do not affect other time slots. Morning bookings do not reduce Evening or Night availability
Example: One Date, Multiple Time slots #
- No.of Pax = 10 travelers
- Date: August 1
- Time Slots: Morning / Evening / Night
Results:
- Morning = 10 seats
- Evening = 10 seats
- Night = 10 seats
Each time slot has its own independent seat availability.

FAQs #
Can I set different Min Pax and Max Pax for each package? #
Yes.
When using packages, every package can have its own Min/Max Pax rules per category (Adult, Child, etc.).
Why can’t I use both single pricing categories and packages at the same time? #
Tripcart only allows one pricing structure per tour.
Why does my package show fewer available seats than the package Max Pax I set? #
This happens when the date-level Max Pax is lower than the package limit.
The date capacity always overrides package capacity.
Example:
- Package Max Pax = 8
- Date Max Pax = 6
Traveler will only see 6 seats, not 8.
Why does the booking popup start at a higher number instead of 1? #
Because the system automatically starts from the defined minimums. For example, if you set Adult min pax = 3, the traveller selector begins at 3 Adults by default.
